2010 The Assassin Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
50 cases produced
Gold Medal Winner. 90 Points – 9th Annual Cabernet Shootout, San Francisco
Vineyard Notes:
The fruit for this release was sourced from two award winning Napa vineyards, Broken Rock and Reverence Vineyards. Broken Rock is located in the Soda Canyon area at the base of Atlas Peak. The site consistently produces wines with concentrated flavors and superb aromatics. Reverence sits in the Coombsville AVA where the cool coastal breezes and frequent fog create a microclimate ideal for the classic cabernet acid/tannin profile.
Winemaker Notes:
The excellent fruit, sourced from two meticulous Napa growers, gave us everything we needed to create this classic cabernet. The resulting blend exceeded even our own high expectations. The wine was aged for 24 months in French oak, using 50% new and 50% neutral barrels. This is a structured and complex wine, exhibiting dark fruit flavors with vanilla, espresso and and cigar box notes. We bottle aged the wine for an additional 30 months so it is ready to drink now but with only 50 cases produced, we would encourage cellaring for a special occasion.
